Fret Dressing Tool Links
Stewmac Fret Rocker-You’re going to need this for diagnosis.
If you have one, don’t buy another but this one works really well.
Essential for measuring the curvature of the neck. Needed for the first step of fret dressing
Fret Leveling Bar
Essential for leveling frets. The 9″ is the most useful size. The 4.5″ is great for partial fret dressings. I do own the 18″ bar but I don’t use it much
320 Grit Self Adhesive Sandpaper
Essential for fret sanding and levelling.
3-Corner File-Medium
The medium is the one. This is an amazing file that will last a lifetime. There are substitutes but this one is excellent. This is the only file you need for fret crowning.
Stewmac Z File-Centered 150 Grit
Alternate to the 3-Corner file. Highly recommended crowning file. This automatically crowns frets quickly and perfectly. I use this a lot and love it. I use this before using the 300 grit S file.
Stewmac Offset Diamond S File 300 Grit
I use the 300 Grit and I would recommend it. The 150 grit would be for Stainless steel frets.
Needed to protect the fretboard during crowning and polishing.
Essential for polishing frets.
Use these for polishing frets. These are essential for finishing the fret dressing.
Not essential but awesome as a finishing touch on frets.
Different from the fret crowning file and needed for fret ends.
Used to bevel the fret ends. This one is the perfect angle.
